Amalfi e Ravello – Full Day
The “Amalfi Drive” is the most breathtaking coastline in Italy - a winding,cliff-top road balanced between sheer mountains and deep blue sea with every bend revealing a more magnificent view. The Costiera Amalfitana has been listed, since 1997, by UNESCO’s World Heritage as an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape with exceptional cultural and natural scenic values. We will by pass Positano and drive through Praiano and Conca dei Marini to reach Amalfi. Here you can explore the lovely old town, visit the magnificent Cathedral and it’s Cloister of Paradise. Wecontinue to Ravello, passing terraced lemon groves, renowned for its old-world charm, concerts and incomparable views. From the gardens of Villa Rufolo, you can admire a panorama said to have inspired Wagner when composing the “Parsifal”.

Pompeii & Vesuvius – Full Day
Pompeii is one of the great wonders of the world and to visit it is an unforgettable experience. Placed on Unesco’s World Heritage List, this large, thriving Roman city was covered by volcanic ash from the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Because of its remarkable state of preservation, we can see today the fascinating details of how people lived, worked and played during the Roman Empire nearly 2000 years ago. Following our guided visit, we take a spectacular drive through green orchards and lava flows up to 3000 feet on Mount Vesuvius. A pathway continues to the edge of the crater where a local mountain guide will show you around, pointing out the “fumaroles” which reveal that the volcano is still active.

Rome – Full Day
Rome is one of the greatest capitals in the world and centre of world Catholicism. A bustling city with fabulous shops and boutiques but, amidst the hurry of everyday modern life, beautifully preserved buildings and monuments stand out on unexpected corners, a constant reminder of her glorious and sometimes turbulent past.You will be driven along Villa Borghese, the River Tiber, the Palace of Justice, St. Angel Castle, the Coliseum and the Roma Forum, calling at St. Peter’s Basilica where from you will have some free time at your disposal.

Caserta & Cassino – Full Day
The Royal Palace of Caserta was built during th 18th century by Charles III of Bourbon, King of Naples, to rival the splendours of Versailles. This impressive palace with it’s 1200 rooms, full of chandeliers, richly gilded frescos, tapestries and history is set in a lovely park only a few minutes away from Naples. After th visit through some of the richly decorated rooms and the extraordinary garden will continue to Monte Cassino, scene of historic battle during World War II, when the spectaculary sited Abbey was destroyed, now entirely rebuilt in the original style.

Salerno & Paestum – Full Day
The earliest Italian school opened in Salerno in the ninth Century AD, and as the place where the streams of classical, Arab and Jewish medicine flowed together was the predecessor of the medicine renaissance. A number of medical texts have survived from the Salerno school on various aspects of medicine.The best known is the Regimen Sanitatis Salernitanum. The book is filled with practical suggestions for maintaining health when medicine was largely ineffective in curing sickness. In to day times Salerno is best remembered for the landing of the Allied Troops during World War II. To the east of Salerno is the ancient city of Paestum founded by the Greeks in 600 BC. Its name probably derives from Poseidonia, after the God of the Sea, as the sea was the basis of its property. It fell to the Romans in 273 BC and was left totally abandoned until the 18th century. The Doric temples are surrounded by rural countryside while in the splendid museum are sculptures, painted pots, terracotta’s and very early tomb paintings. Look out for the buffalo that you will see grazing on the roadside during the drive.

Naples & Solfatara – Full Day
Naples was the main attraction of the 18th century Grand Tour. Its fine palaces and churches and the lively city centre with its excellent shops still record those great days. The tour consists of the visit to the famous National Archaeological Museum where you can admire superb statues, mosaics and other masterpieces recovered from Pompeii, Herculaneum and Cumae. After visiting the Museum, you will also be guided around the city, which as you will see is a hive of activity. You will see the Royal Palace, the Piazza Plebiscito, the piazza Municipio with its huge medieval castle and the San Carlo Opera House. In the afternoon, we visit Solfatara, known in the ancient world as Forum Vulcani. Bubbling pools of hot mud,gysers and rising clouds of sulphurous vapour create and impression not to be missed.

Herculaneum – Half Day
An interesting half-day tour to Herculaneum, which, like Pompeii, was buried by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Preserved than Pompeii as the fine villas of prosperous Roman merchants in this smaller seaside resort were covered in volcanic mud, so that even wood has survived.

Mt. Vesuius – Half Day
Mount Vesuvius dominates the Bay of Naples. The slopes were once covered with vineyards and woods and provided an innocent looking backdrop for the bustling town below. The car (vehicle) will take you up to 1.000 metres and from here along a pathway you can walkto the very top and admire the splendid panoramic view across the bay. From the crater rises a single plume of smoke, a reminder that the volcano is only sleeping for now.

Full day excursion to the famous archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Pompeii holds an intense fascination for visitors today. Following the eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuviusin the year 79 AD, Pompeii lay buried and forgotten for hundreds of years. The town is high on the list of Wonders of the World and the excavations begun in the 18th Century are still being carried out today. The guide will take you slowly through some of ancient streets of Pompeii where you can see Baths, Forums and Villas built by the prosperous Roman in the year 80 BC. Marvel at the fabulously preserved Frescoes, which adorned the walls and mosaic floors of the Villas. When the catastrophe of 79 AD occurred Herculaneum was submerged under a torrent of mud and lava that hardened into a soft tufa (a kind of course rock) that preserved many of the wooden parts of houses and household object which can be seen today. A large part of the town is still buried, and certainly many art treasures are still to be found. Return to Sorrento in the afternoon.
